As a part of our JumpStart program (Building Community and Building Relationships), LOTE faculty organised to play a popular French game "Le Chapeau".
Students were working cooperatively in multi-age teams to compete against each other. During this game they demonstrated not only their knowledge of French numbers, but also PYP attitudes, such as, Cooperation, Enthusiasm, Respect, Tolerance and Commitment.
Promoting Student Voice & Choice You will find an amazing article from Margaret Kennedy who shares the joys of the success of the 2016 Student Representative Council’s (SRC) state award, recognising their efforts towards a shared learning community.
The Coatesville Primary School, Student Representative Council was awarded:-
2016 WINNER
Department of Education and Training
SRC of the Year – Primary Schools
It was an incredibly proud moment as we watched Luca Villella & Sienna Gleghorn (School Captains), Sophie Willis & Patrick Doukas (Vice School Captains), Gabby Stoupas & Chevonne Mendez (Grade 6 SRC) step up on stage to receive this prestigious award from the Hon. James Merlino, Minister for Education. Sienna and Luca spoke superbly as they made their impromptu ‘thank-you’ speech in front of over 200 people, including the parents of the students named above.
The following staff have facilitated the SRC Action Team meetings all year and we thank them for their commitment to our SRC. They are Cam Azer (Building Communities), Thu Pham (Student Voice), Cindy Delaurier & Sue Clowes (Sustainability) and Rowan Henshaw & Kristian Noden (Student Wellbeing). Cindy, Thu and Cam attended the evening on behalf of Sue, Rowan and Kristian who could not attend, due to being on the Grade 3 camp.
Margaret Kennedy, Student Wellbeing Coordinator, submitted our school’s application which included a video presentation created by Nathan Benn. It was truly awarding winning! Margaret has done a magnificent job in coordinating the SRC program at Coatesville PS this year.
